THE POV TEAM

Our partners have over 30 years in combined experience building, acquiring, growing and selling mid-market businesses.  We have been partners for 20 years, and built one of the leading entertainment metadata companies, Baseline, through a series of acquisitions.  We have strong digital/technology roots, operating experience and point of view on the technology trends propelling the entertainment, media and data industries.

We have deep experience across all capital stages from seed funding and Series A venture funding to private equity raises, recaps, strategic funding and exits to both public and private companies.  We have consummated transactions with some of the largest media companies both domestically and internationally, including Tribune Media Company, Hearst Entertainment and The New York Times, and have sold product solutions to every major company that produces Film, TV and digital content.

CASE STUDY 1: SCREENLINE

Our Baseline business needed to expand its film and TV metadata offering into new languages.  As our customers including Microsoft, Yahoo, and Hulu were developing new customer platforms in other languages outside the US, they needed localized program titles and descriptions.
We traveled to London and met with 20+ companies that provided different types of film and TV metadata in europe and asia.  We discovered a highly fragmented data market, with no single-source provider of the data we needed.
Our last meeting was with a tiny German company Screenline, a provider of film box office information that had been tracking weekly box office results in over 40 countries for the prior 10 years.  We realized they had been tracking box office results using the local language program title and description in every one of the countries.
The following month we paid Screenline a diligence visit in northern Germany and hammered out a deal to buy the company and integrate its database into our Baseline database.  Within 3 months of first meeting, we consummated the acquisition, ingested their data and had upsold our existing clients to the new foreign language data sets.
